5 text strings and iso-8859-1 chars? - ID: 644464

Hi-

it would be cool to be able to use non-ascii chars in
rendered
text strings. right now (0.5.0-1.deb), it appears as
if gfontview
silently assumes Ascii or Adobe Standard encoding or
somesuch.

a popup with target encodings (like in the fontmap) and an
escape syntax would be great. then one could key in
accents
and ligatures.

btw: great piece of software!

here is a quick-and-dirty fix that reencodes type1 files in
iso-8859-1 if they claim to be in Adobe Standard encoding
(see attached diffs to t1.C)
