5 CVS usage issue - ID: 609667
Last Update: Comment added ( moorman )

I did:
export CVS_RSH=ssh
and
cvs -z3
-d:ext:developername@cvs.eddie42.sourceforge.net:/
cvsroot/eddie42 co .
(substituting developername for correctly)
Entered my password, etc.
Tried to commit a file and it said:
cvs [server aborted]: "commit" requires write access to
the repository
cvs commit: saving log message in /tmp/cvsRNJgXQ

What have I done wrong? I haven't commited a file for
about 5 months, has that got something to do with it
perhaps?

Greetings,

To answer your follow-up question: definitely. Please
checkout a fresh working copy of your repository (using ext
authentication) at this time, move any modified files from
your old working copy to your new working copy, and retry
your commit operation. It should go through cleanly,
without error.

Should you require further assistance from the
SourceForge.net team regarding this matter, please submit a
new support request.

Thank you,

jamie@venus:~/Softham/eddie> cvs -t commit
-> main loop with
CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@cvs.eddie42.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/eddie42
cvs commit: Examining .
cvs commit: Examining CVSROOT
-> Connecting to
cvs.eddie42.sourceforge.net(216.136.171.202):2401
-> system('pico' '/tmp/cvs0Qi0Yd')

and then my text editor loaded, and I aborted it.

Is it something to do with it thinking I'm just an anonymous
user?
