9 A new Player with advanced features... - ID: 481852
Last Update: Comment added ( bofh666 )

A new player, or a revamp to the existing
dvdplay-curses, etc. that would include features such
as play, pause, reverse and forward between scenes,
etc. Basically making the player like a regular
hardware or software player.

I have adde some additional functionality to dvdplay-curses,
but nothing spectactular. Also, it is for the old (like
beginning of 2001) snapshot from the old site... It had
probably evolved since then.

it has : different /play/slow/ffwd handling, so it acts more
like a normal dvd player; (no rev, tough. card/driver shits
itself if you try it), file offset checking and jumping so
you can skip to wherever you want easily (like bookmarks,
but you dont need to navigate there first to set them), and
also can skip bad sections of the dvd, since linux tends to
act very differently from a normal dvd player when it
encounters a scratch on the disk (it kinda locks there
instead of skipping the damn scratch).
Interface is still curses, does the job for me. Also, no
menu support (why the fuck ppl want menus? dvdplay-curses
-cTx -Sx is so much easier...)

I'll give a look on the new version to see if I can port
this stuff to it, but I have another issue with the dxr2
right now.

cheers.
