8 Clerver Doesn't Connect - ID: 436048
Last Update: Comment added ( xiuzan )

Sam, myself, and apparently Todd have had this problem.

Clerver takes a long time to connect, then the GUI
opens. Sniffer shows no data passed after setting
account. We must set account info manually.

Debug info emailed to Chris.

I think maybe it is the localhost:0, but could be
netwrk related, timeouts not handled, etc. (Just
guesses)...

When you're telling the clerver to connect to the account,
via UpdateProperties, the clerver is failing in some way.
Its responding back - that' show the UI knows that
there's an error to get - but the error response is empty.

A few things I can think of:

1. Config.xml is the one from src/run correct? When
you're restarting the clerver you're not letting it create
this file on it's own? I know it will but that file doesn't
work for shit.

2. The same vers. of oclib.dll is in with the UI as is with
the clerver. If you're running the installer then this must
be so.

3. The clerver cannot connect to the rootnode it is being
told to connect to and so fails. This would be
characterised, when I've seen it, by an incredibly long
start-up time as it waits for the connection timeout.

4. I have no idea. I'm quite certain its not a UI thing but it
sure would be nice to figure out why no error data is
returned. Being able to react to this event would be
nice.

When I start the app, the "Starting the clerver" progress
bar comes up, and stays up for at least a few minutes. Once
the bar is almost filled the UI pops up as if the
connection was finally made.

nothing within the ui works however, files cannot be added
by any means, and nothing is displayed in any of the panes.
A check of winroot shows the account chosen in setup is not
connected. Going to localhost shows the properties have not
been changed from their defaults.

It takes manually entering the values into clerver
properties plus 2 restarts (both ui and clerver) before the
account connects properly and files can be added/displayed.

This happens using version 625v127am on Windows 2000
