A debian user reported this problem on Debian's Bug Tracking System. He explained the two problems and submit patch there. I will feel better to have you to review the patch before I put it into Debian package.

Looks okay to me, although not tested. Juergen is the actual developer for
this plugin. He may be the best person to evaluate if it solves the
reported problems.
