5 Maxima crashes on solve, integrate and some other operation - ID: 2892737

eg:

solve(x^2+5*x+2=0,x);
integrate(x**(-5/2)/sqrt(x+2), x, 1, 2);
integrate((x+1)/(x^3-8),x);
integrate((4*x)^(1/2),x);

Bug reproduce on Maxima 5.17.1 from ubuntu 9.10 package and maxima 5.19.2
from source.

All the above examples work for me using GCL 2.6.7 with Maxima 5.19post on
Slackware.

I think it might be a problem to build Maxima with GCL 2.6.7 as reported in
the above link. On a Linux system it might be preferable to use another
compiler. I use CLISP, ECL, CMUCL, and ECL and have no problems. I use GCL
2.6.8 only on my Windows system.

All of these work for me with 5.19post using gcl 2.6.8.

5.17.1 is pretty old.
