I like having this plugin operating in the background so that I don't
miss/ignore incoming messages, but I'd like an easy way to quickly toggle
it off when I have a phone call/someone physically present etc.

Adding a menu item either directly to the systray icon's main menu (or on a
submenu, at most one level down) would do the job nicely.
