Tracker: Bugs
Since version 15.29, on AmigaOS 4.1 TextEditor has become very unstable to
the point that it is unuseable - at least in conjunction with YAM, which is
the only application I use that utilizes it.
More precisely, when editing emails, random crashes happen all the time,
with the consequence that the system completely freezes.
In one occasion today, luckily, the system didn't crash entirely, but a
Grim Reaper caught the error and allowed me to save the attached crashlog.
This is what how things went in detail:
1. I launched YAM and checked for updates - TextEditor 15.30 and TheBar
26.4 were found.
2. I installed the updates, hoping that 15.30 fixed the issues 15.29
had.
3. I rebooted the OS.
4. I launched YAM.
5. YAM automatically downloaded two spam emails.
6. To try the new libraries, I replied to one of the emails (attached
here) and started typing random text in random points.
7. The problems with colors were fixed, but after very few sentences the
editor crashed, the system tried to open the Grim Reaper window and then
froze.
8. I rebooted to decided to make another test.
9. I launched YAM.
10. YAM tried to download emails but found none.
11. I replied again to the same email.
12. I placed the cursor at some random point and pressed [ENTER] twice and
entered "let me try again" and pressed [ENTER] twice.
13. I moved the cursor to some other random point and pressed [ENTER], the
editor inserted the newline and then crashed: this time, the Grim Reaper
was able to do its job and produce the crashlog, which I saved.
14. I also grabbed the editing window, which is attached here as well.
I have restored version 15.28 which is much more stable (although it
suffers from bad - but rare - crashes, too). Maybe 15.29 and 15.30 just
happen to bring to light a problem which was already present before?
