5 GIS File Input: NullPointerException w/ nulls in shpfile - ID: 2806444
Last Update: Settings changed ( etdub )

We are trying to read some GIS file and it gives Null Pointer Exception.
Generally Postgres doesnt support Null data in the Date columns. I think
Geokettle is also giving error as the date column in the data is having
null data. So is there a way to read such files in Geokettle.??

OK I understand the issue.
To create a shapefile you can use proprietary GIS software such as ESRI
ArcGIS, or open source tools like uDig, QGIS, etc.

I created such a shapefile and inserted null values in a date field, it
triggers the problem. Will look further into this.

Thanks

Yes, I do have a file and the file is a real time data which I cannot share
with you because of the security issues.
So I am trying to get some sample file to reproduce the problem. If you
can suggest me some tool to create a shape file then i think I can give you
such file.

Thank you
Swapna

You must have a file since you got a NullPointerException when trying to
open it.

When you submit a bug report, you need to provide a test case so we can
reproduce the problem. Otherwise we won't be able to do anything. Please
submit an attachment with two things:

- The shapefile you tried to open (with the .shp and .dbf files at the
minimum)
- A minimal transformation (.ktr file) in which the problem happens

Hello,

Is it possible to have a sample file in order to test it and try to
reproduce the bug? It will be easier for us to find the problem and to fix
it.

Thanks.
