Last Update: Comment added ( nobody )

After an error in DWSIM I had to terminate the program. After that event

Daniel,
thanks for your help. Eventually I found the folder (it was hidden). After
deleting that folder the program works again.

If you don't find the "DWSIM" folder, try to find the
"Daniel_Wagner_O._de_Medei" at the same place and delete it... just
remembered that the Framework creates a folder with the author name instead
of the program name...

Gregor,

I don't remember in XP very well but it should be "Documents and
Settings\{Logon name}\Application Data", and then inside this folder you
will find another one named "DWSIM", or even inside another folder named
"Local Settings"...

I have Vista and my DWSIM data folder path is
"C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\DWSIM".

This is the folder you should delete... then restart DWSIM to see what
happens.

Thank you Daniel for your quick response.
But that dose not work either as there is no such folder existant. I
grantet access rights to the folder "C:\files\application data" but that
dose not help.
Please give me a complete list of all folders where access is necessary.

That's really weird, Gregor... DWSIM doesn't require any admin privileges
to run.

Maybe is is the temporary folder setting of the backup feature. DWSIM may
be trying to open a folder for which it doesn't have access. Try to delete
the 'DWSIM' folder inside your 'Application Data' (XP) or 'AppData' (Vista)
folder... and then run it again as a normal user.

I did the reinstallation of .NET as suggested. This showed me some other
deeper source of the problem.
As my computer is from my company I only do have partial administrator
rights. Therefore the reinstallation of .NET had to be done by my network
administrator. Then I reinstalled DWSIM with my account without problems.
As we found afterwards it is not possible to run DWSIM with my partial
rights but if it is run with network-administrator rights it was fine. We
also checked the access rights to the DWSIM directory but this is not the
reason for the problems.
Yours
Gregor

Try to reinstall the .NET Framework 2.0 and then reinstall DWSIM.
