5 PyPI login isn't "sticky" in Safari - ID: 2724139
Last Update: Settings changed ( montanaro )

After logging into PyPI in Safari, it seems unable to remember that I'm
logged in. Every time I click on
something it presents me with "Login" again instead of showing me my list
of packages. Seems to work
ok in Firefox.

Thanks Martin. I'll just live with the annoyance until Apple gets around
to fixing Safari.

I can't quite reproduce that. When I do login, it presents me with my
packages. When I then navigate to one of my packages, I can edit it. If I
navigate elsewhere, it does show the login link; when I select that link,
I'm immediately logged in again without entering the password. If I want to
access a URL that actually require authentication, it also remembers that
I'm logged in.

Apparently, Safari doesn't resend the authentication every time, but only
when requested by the server. The server, OTOH, assumes that the browser
resends the authentication every time. Apple broke that in Safari 3.
