The eq::net layer can not handle more than 64 connections, which is the maximum number of handles the underlying WaitForMultipleObjects function accepts. See the relevant MSDN page for information on how to work around this limitiation.
Since Equalizer uses some connections internally, the maximum number of render clients is below 60.
