Watchdog

Tracker: Bugs

5 watchdog 5.4 Reads pid file incorrect if eol is missing - ID: 2592517
Last Update: Settings changed ( meskes )

When watchdog is monitoring my ntp daemon it gets the PID wrong

root@172_31_64_61:/# cat /var/run/ntpd.pid
950root@172_31_64_61:/#

Feb 12 09:46:48 ERROR watchdog[1242]: pinging process 9505
(/var/run/ntpd.pid) gave errno = 3 = 'No such process'

I tracked the problem down to the fact that ntpd does not write a eol in
the pid file.
Furthermore it seems that i the pid get above 1000, there is no problem.

This looks like non-cleared memory to me. I will make sure that the buffer
will be set to zero in the next version.
