5 duplicate entries on TED's FeedBurner feed - ID: 2364354
Last Update: Comment added ( azimout )

I don't know if this has already been reported (couldn't find it with the
keyword "duplicate" and its variants), but this feed keeps duplicating
items every few days or so: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TEDTalks_video

It frequently brings up old items as if they were knew and creates a lot of
confusion/noise. I'm using liferea 1.4.22 from getdeb.net, it seems it uses
xulrunner 1.9.

What could be the problem?

I have been able to reproduce this for the following feed:
http://rss.zdnet.fr/feeds/rss/actualites/
This with liferea 1.4.26 on Ubuntu Jaunty

Hm. AFAIK, I still see this on 1.4.23, Note that this bug can take longer
than a week to appear, it seems to be quite random :(

Tonight, I will mark all of its unread items as read and see if old
stories crop up again as duplicates in the coming weeks.

I have now subscribed to the feed for some weeks and could not reproduce
your effect (using 1.5). Do you still see this?

well, the interesting thing is that I already had the cache setting set to
"unlimited" for this feed!

Ah... it's an overly large feed (more than 100 items). Merging can be
unpredictable in such a case. Liferea has a default cache setting of 100
items. All other items will be dropped, if the feed content varies (older
items are edited, some deleted...) you might have reappearing items.

Please try a cache size significantly larger then the feed size.

That's a different case then. If you had it for a longer time let's look
into it. I'll subscribe to the feed and see if I can reproduce it.

Well, I experienced this bug for as long as I can remember (many months, or
maybe forever) on that feed, it was not 1.4.22-specific. Does that count?
(for now, this is the version I'm running as it is the latest packaged .deb
I could find for ubuntu 8.04).

Please ensure you are running 1.4.22d or later as 1.4.22 introduced a
merging bug.
