5 Battletoads - Screen shakes in Snake Pit level - ID: 2274932

In Battletoads, the screen shakes like hell in the Snake Pit level. This
bug has been in since FCEU-Rerecording 0.98.13.

This probably indicates a bug in the CPU, or in CPU timing.

Turns out that is fixed in the new FCEUX.

You have to use the new (but not completely finished) ppu. In the current
svn you can accomplish this by opening your .cfg file and setting newppu to
1. There will be a menu item in the next release.

I am closing this issue.

Many emulators have quirks on this level.
Nestopia and Nintendulator work perfectly.
Old FCEU (0.98.12 and earlier, and FCEUXD) also work perfectly.
JNES draws the background 4 pixels above the sprites, and the status bar
flickers
VirtuaNES sometimes has a flickering scanline where the status bar ends,
and draws the background one pixel below where the sprites are
PocketNES looks somewhat like JNES, has a shaky and flickery status bar
and the background is drawn 4 pixels above the sprites.

I think the problem may have something to do with incorrect CPU timing on
indexed instructions which cross pages. How exactly was the CPU changed
between version 0.98.12 and 0.98.13?

Is this bug present in any other emulators? Such as nestopia, or
nintendulator?
