Transcriber

The Unix tarball is incorrectly created: it expands directly into bin and
lib directories rather than into a single directory. This is inconvenient
and violates the standards used by repackagers such as Debian. Ideally the
tarball should conform to the GNU standards as it is very useful to have
the change log etc.
