5 MacOS X Touchpad Scrolling Stutter - ID: 2155706
Last Update: Settings changed ( scarlac )

On MacOS 10.5.5 (Leopard), while scrolling slowly with a touchpad on a
MacBook, the latest release of JEdit (4.3pre15) will periodically (every
couple hundred lines) jump back up 100 lines or so. Previous versions of
JEdit did not do this, nor do other apps currently installed. So, this
appears to be unambiguously an issue with the current JEdit release. While
not a show-stopper, this is *really* annoying when trying to read code.

I cannot reproduce this unless I slowly slide my finders leftwise. Doing so
will make a shift+scroll event, which is hardcoded to large scrolling in
jEdit. This will be changed via a plugin or a new option. A ticket is
already open for this issue, so I will close this.

I think this is due to jEdit treating left/right scroll events as
page-up/downs. When you do 2-finger scrolling you tend to move your
fingers slightly left and right as well as up and down. These cause
left/right scroll events to be fired, which are much more "powerful" than
the up/down scroll events. Yes, it's really really annoying, and makes
2-finger scrolling useless in this app.
