Feature request: rectangular selections - ID: 2132284

It would be nice to be able to select/cut/paste
rectangular blocks, like many other fine editors
(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_text_editors -- BTW why
isn't medit in there?)
The usual way is selecting while holding the ctrl key. It obviously works
only with fixed width fonts.
