8 PHP completely broken on project web server - ID: 2119831
Last Update: Comment added ( sf-robot )

I am still getting the "Error establishing a database connection" - yes,
I'm trying to connect to "mysql-a".

However, I suspect this is a PHP breakage. As a test, I renamed my
.htaccess file out of the way, and created a file "test.php" with just the
string "Hello world." in it - no PHP at all, even. (c.f.
/home/groups/a/ao/aolserver/htdocs/files/test.php)

Trying to request that file (c.f. http://aolserver.com/files/test.php)
results in the "Error establishing a database connection" response.

Something outside of my control is doing the wrong thing. Can someone in
Support _please_ take a serious look into this?

Thanks, anonymous commenter - it looks like that's the issue, aolserver.com
wasn't a CNAME for vhost.sourceforge.net - sigh.

I swear, at one time it was ...

I hope once the DNS is updated, everything "works" again.

Thanks for all your help!

I'm not sourceforge support, but it doesn't work from your vhost:

http://aolserver.com/files/test.php

but does work from sourceforge:

http://aolserver.sourceforge.net/files/test.php

Greetings,

Actually, the logs are available on the server. I just grabbed one to
confirm. I used sftp. Once connected, cd to /home/groups/e/er/error_logs.
You can grab the one that is most likely to be a candidate.

In the mean time, I am going to escalate this to the SOG team cause they
would be the ones that needs to take it from here.

Daniel, this makes _NO_ sense. I'm creating a test PHP page that does NOT
try to access a database -- hell, it doesn't even include any PHP code!

It looks like a misconfiguration of the project web server.

Can someone please look at the HTTP error logs? I'd do it myself if we
still had shell access and I could tail -f them.

I can access my project web files. As I said: if I create a file named
"test.php" and put "hello world" inside, requesting it via HTTP yields the
"Database error" response. This makes no sense, whatsoever.

Please, someone actually LOOK at this? I've cancelled my SF.net
subscription today (after having paid it since 2004) because this "priority
support" is a joke.

Greetings,

As previously announced to project admins by email, the PHP version has
been updated as has the method/hostname/username for accessing file
management for project web has changed as part of our project web migration
to the new Chicago datacenter.

Details regarding the migration may be seen at:
http://sourceforge.net/community/forum/topic.php?id=3471&page&replies=2

In short: SCP/SFTP/rsync over SSH are viable methods; you'll auth against
web.sourceforge.net; and your username for auth will be
USERNAME,PROJECTNAME@web.sourceforge.net which will provide you
permissions to PROJECTNAME files.

Also, please note that we have updated the Site Documentation
(https://sourceforge.net/docs) for Project Web / DB access to reflect the
changes on site: E07. Project Web, Shell and Database Services (en) -
https://sourceforge.net/docs/e07
