5 Crash while entering text in reply - ID: 2079784
Last Update: Comment added ( thboeckel )

YAM 2.5 OS4 PPC (21-Dec-07 (GCC 4.2.2)) crashed while I was typing a reply
to an email, after 3-4 minutes of typing.

I was able to resume my typing after saving the crashlog and clicking
"Continue" in the GR.

As this is in fact an issue with TextEditor.mcc would everybody who
experienced these crashes PLEASE refer to this bug in TextEditor.mcc's
tracker, download the appropriate version and report if the crashes
vanished or not?

As it happened again in the same TE.mcc instruction I now filed a report
(#2386639) against TE.

Even here on OS4.1 and nightbuild of 22-Ott-2008 same behaviour.
After GR->Continue Blinking cursor doesn't blink anymore.
Here GR crashlog and mail saved into outgoind drawer after GR->Continue:

First of all, this is no bug in YAM, but in TextEditor.mcc, as the
crashlog's stacktrace clearly states.

However, this is crash reproducable in any way? Is there any specific
sequence of words to be entered to make TE.mcc crash? The crashlog points
out that TE.mcc tried to access newly allocated memory, which had no
specific content yet. That is all I can say right now. I can only guess
that this bug is somehow related to word wrapping while typing new words
within an existing line of text. Correct? Can you please give some more
information about what exactly you were doing when the crash happened?
Where have you been typing? Somewhere in the middle of a line? Somewhere in
the middle of a line within a longer paragraph? At the end of the last
line? Where ever?
