5 new satellites - ID: 2049452
Last Update: Comment added ( csete )

I couldn't find out how to add new satellites. I think this could be a
great update.

sorry, it's very simple

download the TLE file you need from
http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/ (in GOCE case is the tle-new.txt),
save it as .tle in $HOME/.gpredict2/tle directory and add it as .txt in
files to fetch in the TLE update tab

create a new module and that's all
bye

it's not so simple as below but not yet hard at all.
Look for the track ID of satellite you want to track in the TLE files
located in the $HOME/.gpredict2/tle directory.

i.e. ISS is in the amateur.tle and has the tracking ID 25544 while GOCE
(tack ID 34602) is not yet in any file already present in the directory

in cases like GOCE, look for the right file from
http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/ (in GOCE case is the tle-new.txt),
save it as .tle in $HOME/.gpredict2/tle directory and add it as .txt in
files to fetch in the TLE update tab

once found, open with gedit the file .mod present in the directory
$HOME/.gpredict2/modules (in my case is Amateur.mod) and add the track ID
in the line SATELLITES
in my case the result is:

[GLOBAL]
SATELLITES=25544;20580;34602

(the track IDs are those of ISS, HST and GOCE)
before saving the file, close gpredict; save the file and then open again
gpredict.
Now the new satellite is tracked.

Have a nice day
Filippo

There is currently no interface in the GUI to do this, but it will be
added.
New satellites that are added to the downloaded TLE are registered
automatically.
Until then, if you want to add your own satellites, you can put your own
TLE files in the $HOME/.gpredict2/tle/ directory.
