I compiled SRM using macports, and then when I tested it, I got the
following error:

~ $ srm to_del.txt
dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _fdatasync
Referenced from: /opt/local/bin/srm
Expected in: flat namespace

srm 1.2.10 compiles and works with OsX 10.5

srm comes built in with OS X 10.5

Not a solution/answer but do you realise that srm in already included in
OS X? Since the version installed with Tiger is 1.2.8, I'm assuming your
version must be at least as recent as the one you're trying to install
through MacPorts.

Also, have you reported the problem to MacPorts? They may be using patches
and will certainly be using configuration options that the developers here
cannot know about without examining the portfile (which would have to be
the same version you used as well) and I'm guessing that might make it
harder for them to troubleshoot.

It occured to me this might also be helpful:

~ $ srm --version
srm (srm) 1.2.8
~ $ uname -v
Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.2: Tue Mar 4 21:17:34 PST 2008;
