5 Plugin for Office 2008 Mac - ID: 1914716
Last Update: Comment added ( zerothis )

Tools / plugins to allow seamless open/edit/save of open document formats
(ODT, ODS, ODP) with Office 2008 on the Mac.

This would be particularly welcome amongst Mac users as the open document
format editors on the Mac are not as good as those on Windows or Linux
(NeoOffice is a buggy Beta, OpenOffice is slow under X, other editors are
too lightweight).

There's also a feature request for the same thing for Office 2004 - also a
good idea.

Agreed, I'd like the option of converting a document on my Linux box at
home, my Linux smartphone, or on my Mac at the office, then sending it to a
recipient on a Windows box from wherever I happen to be at the moment. It
wouldn't need a Linux GUI (personally, I was raised by DOS); most Linux
users know how to use a CLI well enough to convert a file. However, I think
Mac users would prefer a GUI. This would be for sending to Windows users
who don't have the time, inclination, or techknow to download or install
plugins or get it from sourceforge.
Honestly though, I use OpenOffice to read files _from_ Windows.
