5 Increase write block size for meta data handling - ID: 1852068
Last Update: Comment added ( stochastic4 )

According to http://ntfs-3g.org/support.html#dd the performance for meta
data handling of FLAC files on ntfs-3g devices could be improved by
increasing the write block size.

From a quick grep at the source, it looks like some tweaks in
./src/libFLAC/metadata_iterators.c might be enough.

See also https://launchpad.net/bugs/24063, where I've intially found this
issue, because it seems to slow down amarok dramatically when writing FLAC
meta data on ntfs-3g.

What's the status of this bug, I notice the Ubuntu flac package still has
this bug marked as open.

I'm a little skeptical... anytime libFLAC writes to a file, it uses POSIX
streams which are buffered internally. are there specific changes in
libFLAC that are confirmed to be faster?
