Tracker: Bugs

3 drag-and-drop of feed URL to HTML view no longer subscribes - ID: 1836378
Last Update: Comment added ( sf-robot )

In earlier versions of liferea (up to 1.0.x at least), the user could drag
a feed link from firefox into the liferea window, drop it, and liferea
would attempt to add that feed to the subscription list.

This has changed; now, with 1.4.4, the link must be dragged to either the
feed list pane or the item list pane. If the user attempts to drag the
feed to the HTML view pane, the feed's URL is opened in Firefox, which
seems a little bizarre ;)

Please change it so that dragging a link from an external window once again
adds it to the feed list, as it did in 1.0.x. thanks!

Sorry, I think this is not possible or at least hard to implement.

Liferea supports different HTML rendering backends. And each of them is
implementing different drag&drop handling, some of them obviously with
default drag&drop handlers. For those they catch the URL drop before and
thereby prevent the application window receiving (and processing) the URL.
I assume back with 1.0.x you either used GtkHTML2 or the Gecko/XulRunner
behaviour was different.

I'd like to declare this as won't fix because of the necessary effort.
What do you think?
