VDR xine-lib output device

Tracker: Bugs

5 No AC3 pass-through anymore - ID: 1822236
Last Update: Comment added ( schlot )

Since updating xine-lib and xineliboutput, there is no AC3 audio anymore.

I use xineliboutput-cvs (from 2007-10-29) and xine-lib 1.1.8.

My sound system is a SBLive using alsa and I have a receiver connected via
S/PDIF (AC3-pass through).

As far as I can tell, the SPDIF AES bits are set wrong. If I start VDR on
a channel with AC3 sound, everything works as long as I do not watch a
channel with stereo sound. As soon as VDR plays a stereo stream, it cannot
output AC3 afterwards. Then I have to restart VDR to make AC3 work again.

This makes watching a DVD quite difficult, as they usually only have an
AC3 soundtrack. If I watched a stereo channel before, DVD will play without
any sound.

I have an SBLive (emu10k1). I tried in-kernel driver as well as
alsa-drivers without success. Same problem with another machine having
Intel HD Audio.

ALSA works all right, as I can play both PCM and AC3-files via "aplay",
even dts-files work without problems when played via console. Repetitions
in any order do not result in any problems. So I blame either xine-lib or
xineliboutput. I use xine-lib 1.1.8 and xineliboutput from cvs (problem
still occurs as of Feb 26, 2008).

Any help appreciated.

downgraded to xine-lib 1.1.6 and AC3 is working again. As far as I can
see, there is a new audio API in xine-lib 1.1.8.
