5 Another bug? - ID: 1815815
Last Update: Comment added ( francescoa )

I have continued using DrPython with Mandriva 2008 even though the cursor
shows it is still trying to access something.
After saving each time it ran several dozen times, it suddenly will no
longer save, saying it has a latin-1 error.
I switched to text, utf-8, default but it continues to say it won't save
due to a latin-1 error.
I finally cut and pasted the code into g-edit and saved a text copy so as
not to lose my work.

Hmmm

John

Strange. First the cursor behavior, and second the recent menu. All works
fine on windows. Is latin-1 adjusted? Do you have plugins loaded? What
wxPythtn version are you using. Did you download the last Drpython 3.11?

Hi,
I am using DrPython 1.65 loaded under Mandriva 2008 by Mandriva 2008. I
sitll have the cursor showing it is trying to access something all the
time. In addition, if I use the open recent menu item to open a file, it
works fine for the 1st one, but if I try it again with a file already
loaded it doesn't display any recent menu at all. It is blank.
This behavior is similar to if I just try to open a 2nd file, it accepts
the file name but loads opens a blank (new) tab. If I try again, that tab
then fills with the program (though one has to re goto the correct
directory to get it), and does not open another tab. So basically you have
to ask twice to get it to load.
The program is quite usable as is, but would be better without this goofy
loading behavior. (all of it seems to start when trying to load a second
program while a 1st is already there.)
Thanks,
John

I never have this kind of errors, maybe I'm not using weird characters
beyong latin-1.
Can you send a stack trace and/or the offending file?

Regards

Arg, the unicode encoding stuff again. I myself saw sometimes character,
drpython doesn't like and have no solution (I tried various encodings). In
another editor like SciTe, that works?

This is my mistake. I had somehow incorporated an invisible character. I
reloaded drpython and loaded the text file I had saved and ran it. It had
a syntax error with a weird character in one line (and wouldn't save due to
a latin-1 error). I deleted the character, and tried to save the file as a
.py file and it succeeded.
