5 add import document feature - ID: 1800868
Last Update: Comment added ( nfiorenzi )

Hello,

I often have to deal with large files (> 50Mo), which cannot be sent as a
POST due to provider restriction on upload size.

I added a feature to import files from the local filesystem. Files are
uploaded by any mean (ex: FTP) to the provider, then go to "Import
document", the available files are listed, each with "name" and "comment"
fields. The other fields are used for all imports.

Please note I have only changed the english lang.inc, but changes on each
language are needed. I resigned doing it on other languages when I saw the
order of the items is not the same on every language...

Cheers,
Laurent

Hi, i've installed your patch and I think it's a great help in improving
MyDMS.
I was wondering if you had tought about importing not only files, but also
Folders with files inside, recreating the structure in MyDms.
Thanks a lot,
Nicola
PS: what about update document, by import?

I figured out how to get the file removed.

Only thing left is assistance on how to get the modified files posted
here, if anyone's interested.

I've just about finished the addition to allow updating documents using
this as a basis. One thing I haven't figured out is how do you remove the
file from the upload directory? I've got it updating the document,
everything seems to be working except for that one thing.

Once I get it finished, I would like to share this here, but I'm not sure
how to make the cvs.patch document. I could always write it out, but
figured it would be better the way you did it.

Thanks,
Mark

No, I've not investigated this, because in fact, I don't use the update
document feature at all... I mainly publish mp3 files of conferences, and
they never get updated :-)

I used this patch to get around a script timeout problem with my provider.
Worked wonderfully. One thing, have you looked into the ability to tie
this into the Update Document feature? Seems that I've lost the ability to
maintain version control on big documents using this feature. I've started
looking into it, but wanted to see if you've already researched this
issue.

Thanks for a great patch.

Mark
