Generates warnings in strict mode - ID: 1797061

I run all of my PHP servers with error reporting set to E_ALL. This causes
hundreds of warnings when running ppm mostly due to the use of
uninitialised variables. I will produce a patch for this shortly, so ppm
can run on any PHP box, regardless of the error_reporting setting.
