5 ppost123_1.xpi "Not a valid install package" - ID: 1792483

Details:

greetings - i'm running thunderbird 2.0.0.6 on linux, and i get the
following error dialog when i try to install pennypost from the 16.1mb
install file: ppost123_1.xpi

Thunderbird could not install the file at
file:///home/sean/Desktop/ppost123_1.xpi
because: Not a valid install package

i've downloaded the ppost123_1.xpi file from two sourceforge mirrors, and
get the same error each time i attempt installation. the downloaded file is
16.1 mb.

the older ppost12.xpi uninstalls and installs easily, i've reinstalled
pennypost 1.2 and it's working nicely but i'd love to get v1.2.3 working so
that incoming messages with a hashcash header are correctly identified.

Date: 2007-09-11 22:50 Sender: dimension7 Sorry correcting an mistake in my earlier comment: What I was trying to say is that: Release 1.2.3 is definitely better than 1.2 but not any better than 1.2.2 for TB 2.0 users. Have you tried 1.2.2?

Please check the md5 hash of the downloaded file is a9190909887b5bda17f3dd6c0a23a186. If that matches, try opening the .xpi file with a zip file tool like winzip. Does the file open correctly? Let me know what you find. PS. release 1.2.3 has no additional features for users of TB 2.0, it fixes an issue with TB 1.5. Have you checked http://pennypost.sourceforge.net/ThunderbirdExtensionWoes for resolution of issues you are having with 1.2.2?
