5 Switch monitor Asus G1 - ID: 1747492
Last Update: Comment added ( sf-robot )

Hi.

Have anyone being able to switch to en external monitor? Looks like the
events are correctly being generated:
hotkey ATKD 00000061 00000003
hotkey ATKD 0000008c 00000004
hotkey ATKD 0000008d 00000004
hotkey ATKD 00000061 00000004
hotkey ATKD 0000008c 00000005
hotkey ATKD 0000008d 00000005
hotkey ATKD 00000061 00000005
hotkey ATKD 0000008c 00000006
hotkey ATKD 0000008d 00000006
hotkey ATKD 00000061 00000006
I have the fixed DSDT (at least I followed the procedures done here and now
the lcd brightness is working), I can manage the leds but this problem is
really eating me.
If I could only determinate wher the problem is...
I also tried to echo /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/display as in the
README.
TO cat this just gives me 1.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Switching display using the "display" mode is not supported with a lot of
drivers.
It seems to works in console mode, and with vesa drivers.
With nvidia or ati, you can use the driver directly.

Hi.
You are correct. I eventually learned how to act over the ACPI events. I
tought that, as it worked before loading linux, it would be somewhat
automatic. I also dicovered that I needed the latest nvidia driver. After
that, I had it working nicely.
I should have updated it here, sorry.

Hotkeys being recognized doesn't mean anything. You need something to act
upon those events.
Even then, if writing values to /sys/devices/platform/asus-laptop/display
doesn't work, there is not much you can do.
The problem is, probably, that G1 has nvidia card and switching the
displays should be done with nvidia specific stuff...
(Just a guess, but I would expect that asus-laptop/display file works only
with integrated graphic chipset).
You can still use nvidia-settings utility to switch those display
though...
