image thumbnailer uses base version instead of selected - ID: 1743740

When generating the image thumbnails, for some reason the image thumbnailer
always insists on using the base (original) version of an image instead of
the selected version. For consistency, we should seek to always use the
selected version of the image as the thumbnail.
