5 Better handling of closed windows - ID: 1731941
Last Update: Settings changed ( rafke1 )

Currently, when a window is closed (e.g. the server has a timeout and loses
the SSH connection, or is rebooted), that window is "closed". In the table
layout, it is replaced by a gray area. If one has a larger group of
servers, it can be confusing and stressful to try to remember which server
was there.

It would be useful to at least keep the name and the last screen display of
the open. That way, admins would know which windows were closed.

If there was a button for reconnecting to the server, it would be even
better.

Thank you! It works perfectly.

I guess the release notes are not detailed enough.

Go into Edit/Preferences, and on the General tab unselect 'Close terminal
when disconnected'.

Mmmm, there was something wrong with the .deb build. It should contain the
updated features, but it still reports the older version.

I will upload an updated version of the .deb.

I downloaded the .deb file of version 0.6 with files that have dates like
2007-08-04. But it still shows version 0.5. Closed windows (I closed them
with "exit" and from another shell with "kill") still disappear.

Please check the new release. Let me know if that doesn't address your
request.

With the current Gnome-Terminal widget (or whatever was updated by the
last update in Debian Testing), the problem seems partly solved. When the
server quits the connection, it stays there saying:

Connection to $server closed by remote host.
Connection to $server closed.

Command returned 65280 (use close button to close terminal).

I understand what you are saying and I don't disagree (although in the
table layout it should try to reorganize the open terminals so that the
"closed" terminal is gone).

The reason why I implemented it like I did: I want clusterm to quit when
all the terminals have been closed.

Of course, both goals can be reached at the same time. I will have to
think about how this can be done nicely.

I should warn you: I don't have much time to work on this. Patches are
welcome.
