I think that the character drawing engine is somehow broken: an outputful
task like compiling a package on another machine makes iTerm eat 60% of the
cpu (as reported by top) which is a G4 667, with a 1152x768 fullscreen
window and just 1 tab. Plus, the output is slow in such a way that it
actually slows down the program (eg cat very_long_file takes an eternity on
iTerm but not even a second on xterm). It seems like a buffer problem or
whatever, because iTerm outputs a couple of lines, then it looks like it's
computing something, then it writes another bunch of lines, etc...
The framerate setting don't change much (seems to have a small impact on
the time between each bunch of lines) and the performance tips on the
project homepage didn't help either.
