5 Project web is read-only to scripts - ID: 1678072

Details:

For some of the tool i need to install on the webspace, such as MediaWiki,
i need to chmod directories to 0777 0775. I type out the proper string, and
it says it works, because when i run ls -l, the permissions have changed,
yet when i try to set up the app from the website, it claims that they have
not changed. Is there a delay, or am i just not permitted to do that?
