Details:

One of the problems with Microsoft is that they often pick generic names
for their software, such as Word, Windows, COM, or .NET.

This makes it much harder to search the web for tips or bugs.

Unfortunately, Console suffers from the same problem. I just tried to
search the web on a problem I'm having combining IPython in pylab mode with
Console. But of course I'm getting lots of false hits which happen to
mention the concept of a console, but aren't talking about your software
Console.

Please consider changing your name to something that's easier to search
for. A good name may also be easier for people to remember and spread by
word of mouth.

Date: 2007-02-17 00:23 Sender: bozho Apart from the problem of changing the project name this late in the game, there's another problem I faced when I was starting it: how to call it? eConsole was taken, and I don't really like <vowel>Console naming scheme :) Konsole is also taken. I also didn't want to call it something completely different, like 'yukake', since you can't associate it with a console app. I realized that it's pretty hard to find a name that's both descriptive and non-generic, so I gave up and started coding... And never got around to changing it :-) On the other hand, a generic name makes it easy to stumble upon it. If you google for "windows console tabs", Console's SF page is the first hit :-)
