5 Unsupported tablet on Thinkpad X60t? - ID: 1641388
Last Update: Comment added ( birkirb )

Hi, I did an install of Kubuntu Edgy Eft and seem totaly unable to get the
tablet working. I've been through all the documention I could find and
tried the latest drivers (0.7.6).

My device is a serial tablet, and visible on,

#cat /sys/bus/pnp/devices/00\:0b/id
WACf008

and connected to /dev/ttyS0,
I have verified that this device outputs a bunch of stuff when I use the
stylus on the screen.
However when trying #wacdump /dev/ttyS0 I get:

Is this an unsupported tablet or what?

I believe most of the functionality is supported by the lastest drivers.
The wacdump thing could use an update though.

Sorry for the late reply.

But is this something that has been resolved by the information in the
comments?

Just use the driver as described and don't forget the prior "setserial
..." command. The wacdump utility seems to be way outdated and just won't
work; the driver itself does (I use 0.7.7-12 and it's quite stable).

A newer version (0.7.8? 0.8.0?) even supports the touch-functionality, but
had issues with the ID tracking of the pen.

I wonder, has anyone else been successful in getting the X60t multitouch
display
to at least recognize the stylus?

Hi there,

got similar problems with my thinkpad X60t (1024x768 multitouch disply).
Trying "cat /sys/bus/pnp/devices/00\:0b/id" gives me "WACf008" as result.

However, I managed to get it working running "sudo setserial /dev/ttyS0
port 0x0200 irq 5 autoconfig" in rc.local of a kubuntu feisty system. The
wacom drivers are as supplied in version 0.7.4.

Yet, the multitouch feature does not work. The tablet only works with the
pen and not by touching it (It did when I had M$-Vista on). What I have not
observed so far is the that the pen stops working after two hours or so.

Finally, here is what I get with "wacdump -f tpc /dev/ttyS0":

"The stylus is not the same as the one on the x41 tablet. It has only one
button, but got an eraser."

That cannot be the problem under discussion. My X41 stylus works fine on
the X60.

I'm starting to fear that I bought the wrong version of the X60. ;-(

I have the same model and therefore the same problem. It's most likely the
protocol which causes this, as the WACf008 type denotes a panel with
additional touchscreen functionality.

You can easily verify this, as touching the panel with a finger and moving
it around also causes data/updates to be send.

I have a thinkpad X60 tablet and I have the same problem.

doing "cat /dev/ttyS0" shows some output, but "wacdump -f tpc /dev/ttyS0"
shows only some errors. (bad high bit, etc.)

The stylus is not the same as the one on the x41 tablet. It has only one
button, but got an eraser.
