5 Project restore request: nobots - ID: 1596042
Last Update: Comment added ( sf-robot )

I registered a project called "nobots" a few years ago.
I haven't worked on it for the last 2 or so years, but
now that I wanted to return to it (to create a mac
port) it appears that the entire project is missing,
without a single trace as to where it went.

If the project was deleted, I would like to know why,
and also if there is a backup available since I
reinstalled my computers since I last worked on it so I
don't have a copy of it myself.

Thank you very much for your help.

Dear Elias, SourceForge.net offers its services based on Terms of Service
agreement, https://sourceforge.net/tos/tos.php . According toit, we offer
services for open-source project development, and reserve the right to
remove inactive projects. Our current data retention policy is described in
more detail in
https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=14041&group_id=1 .
Speaking informally, if project fails to provide deliverables during
extended period of time, it enters "purge risk group". We cannot provide
indvidual attention to each project, so employ formal criteria for
screening inactive projects, but they are based on criteria the site users
usually apply - if project offers file releases, has website and
documentation, it is active.

Once project is screened as inactive, its admins are contacted twice via
email during 2 weeks. There's also visible notices on admin's "My Account"
page. And only if they fail to respond, project is actually purged. So, you
either ignored these notices, or don't use email with which you registered.
But per TOS, we require users to keep tehir registration info up-to-date.
There can be unfortunate case that mail was lost between SF.net and you,
and here only our mutual support to detect such cases. We offer easy way
for this by subscribing to the monthly site mailing, which would allow you
to stay in loop about the site happenings, and detect mail problems.

In this specific case, we are glad to help - we don't actually delete
projects immediately, but archive them for couple more months. And I hope
that guidelines above would help you to avoid such situation in the future.

Your project has been restored.
