I would like to ask if there will be a development of
VDMSound for Windows Vista (32-bit).

I am currently beta-testing this o/s and have found
that, although VDMSound seems to install correctly,
with full shell integration, whenever I try and run a
game using the "run with vdms" option, I get an error
telling me that it can't find the file vddloader.dll.
This file is present but for some reason cannot be
seen by vdmsound.

Probably has to do with Vista's improved security and/or support of short
file names (I don't remember how this worked.) But VDMSPATH should be set
IIRC, and should possibly be a valid 8.3 (short) file name version i.e.
C:\PROGRA~1\VDMSOUND, not C:\Program Files\VDMSOUND (not sure about that
last one tho'.)

vista usually refuses to load external DLLs.
While the application reports that the DLL cannot be found, it is likely
that Vista finds but just does not load it and reports an error that is
misinterpreted by the application.
You should try to tell Vista somehow to accept this dll.

Considering that this project died a long time ago, I doubt that'll ever
happen.

Check that the VDMSPath environment variable is properly set, that's where
the DLL is normally searched for.

Confirmed Running Vista Business RTM from MSDNAA.

A workaround is to copy the DLL into C:\windows\system32 though a proper
fix would be nice.
