MCEController configuration:
Client: enabled
IP: ...something valid...
Port: 5140
Reconnection delay: 3000
Server: disabled
My own server is configured to serve MCEController client
connections for exactly one minute. After this time the
connection is dropped to force a reconnect from the
client. This way the server is able to monitor the
state of the MCE-PC, because a missing reconnect tells
me that the MCE-PC is switched off or in Standby mode.
What's happening:
1. Start MCE-PC, including MCEController
2. MCEController connects to the server
3. wait some seconds until Media Center is ready
4. server sends Standby command to MCEController client
5. MCE-PC enters Standby mode
6. server closes the connection after 60 seconds
7. Wakeup MCE-PC using the remote control or using
Wake-on-LAN
But now the MCEController client does not reconnect to
the server. It still displays something like "Connected
to ...; waiting for commands". This is false because the
server closed the connection. The client has to recognize
itself that the connection is no longer valid!
The problem here is that the MCE-PC is running, but my
server has no chance to notice this state. Furthermore
I'm unable to send a Standby command, because the server
has no connection to the MCEController client.
Two questions:
I) Is it possible to enhance the client in the way that
it is possible to detect a wakeup from Standby mode?
If so, the client should perform a reconnect after
the wakeup.
II) Do you see another possibility the monitor the
state of the MCE-PC?
