5 Squirrel mail / Firefox conflict - ID: 1586925
Last Update: Comment added ( sf-robot )

Ok, I've had this problem for a long time (over a
year?). I open a firefox window with my email accounts
open in tabs, then I open a new firefox window to do my
browsing in. After a couple hours, I lose the ability
to use the page up/ page down & up/ down cursors. I can
grab the slider bar & use it, though. I thought this
was an issue with my mouse(trackball)/windows/firefox,
so I'd just close all the firefox windows & restart
them & everything worked again. But I recently started
using portablefirefox at school. The school computer
does the same thing! Tried it on a couple other
computers, it is reproducible. So, I started trying
various things to fix it. It definitely starts acting
normal the instant the squirrel mail tab is closed.
Thanks

The folder refresh time is a personal setting, which you can change under
Options -> Folder Preferences.

I am unable to reproduce this behavior. Do you have any other tips for
reproducing it?

Further:
K-meleon didn't seem to cause any problems, although I only ran it for
about 4-5 days.
I personally belive it has something to do with the process which
refreshes the page, to check for new emails. Perhaps setting it to a
shorter time could re-create the problem faster, to allow for less tedious
troubleshooting?

Hmmm, I was in the process of switching over to horde for my email, had to
have both horde & squirrel open so I could copy over the contacts. To avoid
conflicts I opened Squirrel in an Internet Explorer window. About half way
through, I had to leave for several hours.
When I came back, I had a couple new emails. I really prefer the squirrel
interface, so I read them in squirrel, in Internet Explorer. I click a
link, it pops a new window (that's when I realized I wasn't in FireFox any
more).
The new Internet Explorer window won't scroll!
I check the open Firefox tabs, no scrolling!
I close the Internet Explorer window that squirrel is open in, everything
works fine!

Squirrel IS screwing with scrolling, if left open for several hours, in
either FireFox or Internet Explorer, also causing issues cross program!

I'll continue to watch this board, if you get it figured out, I'll switch
back. Horde has a way too busy interface...

Well, no other site causes this problem, ever.
Squirrel mail/Firefox is easy to recreate the problem in.
Across several versions of both squirrel & Firefox

I've grown so disgusted by it that today I downloaded
K-meleon for windows. I'll run my squirrel mail session in
it, & do my browsing in Firefox, until I find a different
email solution.

Good luck

I'm not convinced that this has anything to do with
SquirrelMail. It sounds like a bug in Firefox: SquirrelMail
does not control the behaviour of pageup/down etc.
