5 A stable version - ID: 1567665
Last Update: Comment added ( sigra )

Before implementing any new features, could you not
strife to bring out a STABLE version of the program so
that people could really use it and play it? There are
too many crashes and essetial game functions are
concerned with it.

Sure, we want to achieve a stable version. We are aware of many issues
that need attention. It is a long way to go and we have a severe lack of
resources since all developers have to do other things most of the time.
Only once in a while, one of us gets time for a coding burst. In-between,
Widelands is dormant. We would need fulltime staff to get where we want
within the foreseeable future. There has recently been some discussion
about which problems should be fixed for the next release
[https://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=37966426]. Note
that it will not be a stable version, only an alpha release. And there is
no guarantee at all that even that particular choice of issues will be
addressed in that release.

It is not useful to keep such a general request open. Report specific
problems instead.

This is more a bug than a feature request. It would be more helpful to try
and capture a stack dump/debug and post it when you see a crash. This is a
normal bar to entry and you will see such reports attached to widelands
bugs here - http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/widelands/+bugs

You are right there.
We are on the way to a new release and we will disable all
not-working features. -> it's just in work
