5 Linux independent release - ID: 1556556
Last Update: Comment added ( teaglass42 )

Please provide a release package for Java only. Java
is platform independent and you tar.bz file and script
.sh files, etc. is Linux specific. It would be nice
to have a jar or zip file that just needs to be
unpacked and a small readme about how to start it
(java ...) and perhaps some start scripts for linux
(.sh), windows (.bat), MacOS (?). :-)

I consider this request now complete. I have updated the packaging to be
a .zip file. I have corrected the issures with My_Installer.

I have made changes to My_Installer to mark the shell script as
executible. I have also looked tht the relative paths witin the jar file.
The relative paths look fine to me, since the jar file is actually one
level below the shell script. I have verified this through extensive
testing. I also plan to discuss this with some of my peers, just to make
sure. I have repackaged Holodeck10_1_2 and sent to Beta testers. After I
confirm my thoughts on the relative paths and obtain positive feedback from
the Beta testers, I will make it available for download.

I have looked into the My_Installer problem and the start script issue. I
have re-packaged the product and added the new file to holodeck10_1_2
release. I have downloaded the zip file and tested; everything ran fine
out of the box. Please let me know if you have any issues, or if the
install and start issues have been corrected. Thank you, teaglass42

I looked into the manifest of Holodeck10.jar and there are again wrong
paths "../lib/.." that don't match the relative paths from the
Holodeck10.sh script ...

I ajusted the script and removed the subdirectory "Holodeck10" from the
path. Then the installer started. But after Installation, when I try to run
"Holodeck10.sh", this rror occurs:

Den:/data/apps/Holodeck$ ./Holodeck10.sh
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
org/apache/log4j/Logger
at Holodeck10.Holodeck10.main(Holodeck10.java:85)

Oh man ... :-(

Nope, it still doesn't work. You really should test your releases, because
the start script can't work:

Den:/data/apps/Holodeck10$ ./My_Installer.sh
Unable to access jarfile
/data/apps/Holodeck10/Holodeck10/lib/My_Installer.jar

There is no subdirectory "Holodeck10" in the current directory
"Holodeck10" ...

With the release of Holodeck10 1.2, this feature request has been
fulfilled.

I have the product executing on Windows XP. I am working on one issue
with page alignment. I am also developing an installer that can be used
for Windows or Linux.

I have considered making the package available for Windows.
I will look into a Windows package. I will probably not
make a package for MAC.
