5 Force Keyboard "invalid option(s) specified" - ID: 1551998
Last Update: Comment added ( fdboer )

I have 2 pc's connected with Windows XP / Win2VNC
version 1.431.153 and VNC Server 4.1.2.

I have noticed a VERY nice feature called "force
keyboard". I need to force win2vnc to use the us
keyboard (code page 037 ?) to be used when remote
controlling the other pc in the house. I use the
Dvorak layout on my pc and I'd like to use the Qwerty
layout on my wife's pc.

=)

My problem is, no value I enter into the "force
keybord" field is accepted. Is there something in the
manual that I'm missing. I searched the source files
for "dvorak" but I found nothing.

'Invalid option(s) specified' bug is fixed in 1.4.2, best option is to
download this new release.
Work-around is to check 'Automatic reconnect' and enter a valid integer
value in the delay field.

The "Automatic reconnect" feature is still a little buggy. When Win2VNC
is running and the second machine becomes disconnected (reboots have to
happen some time), a sort of lock up occurs. When my mouse pointer
approaches the side of the monitor set to transition to the second machine,
Win2VNC begins hangs up the Desktop interface and removes the ability to
use the mouse (or much of anything else).

To get out of the lockups:
If I press the "Windows" key, the start menu pops up and I can navigate my
mouse pointer over the taskbar well enough to right-click on the Win2VNC
tray icon and exit.

Resolving/working around:
Setting the number of seconds to zero seems to clear up most issues
(because 0=off?). You can also modify all of your settings, save them to a
.w2v file, and then change "AutoReconnect" to an empty setting or zero.

Here's someone else having similar auto-reconnect lockup trouble:

This is misleading issue that's documented here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1154476&group_id=107456&atid=647657

This is a code problem that causes all option editing to be unavailable.
The workaround is to put a check in "Automatic reconnect" box.
