I am trying to sort a table which gets around 500+
rows from the database. The problem is once the user
clicks on the table header to sort there is noway the
user knows that his request is being processed. I was
wondering is there any way we can have a label/layer
or something indicating that his request is being
processed and once the sorting is done make that
label disappear?

My users would like the same thing... I have 1000+ rows and in IE it can be
slow (firefox is snappy), so a way to at least give some feedback to the
users that something is happening would be great.

I have tried setting document.body.style.cursor = "wait" upon entering the
heading clicked function and then resetting the document.body.style.cursor
= "default" before leaving the heading clicked function, but nothing
happens.
