5 does not work with Maxima-5.9.3 on Windows - ID: 1500618
Last Update: Comment added ( jamesahart )

I have installed Maxima-5.9.3 (current release) on
Windows XP. When trying to connect to a maxima kernel
(.../bin/xmaxima.exe) I get the error msg:
"MaximaKernel did not recognize file input as maxima
input"
while the maxima window pops up (maxima starts).

And the fixes will be available in the next release.

I am extremely sorry about this problem and the amount of time I've spent
not paying attention to it. I've spent quite a bit of time and energy
trying to get the version to work with all possible forms of Maxima. If
the form of Maxima is one I haven't tested with, it will warn the user but
try to use it anyway. I've also made the input tester a good deal less
brittle, so these problems *should* be gone now.

I have looked at the sources a bit and it appears that there
is a very explicit test in the file MaximaKernal.java that
looks for 5.9.1. This obviously fails for 5.9.3.

I changed this, but had other difficulties that were not
entirely clear in their origin.

Has anybody had recent contact with the developers?
