I'd like to see this too! gtkwifi seems to work much better for me than
that network-manager business. Trouble is, many folks are going to the
"increased security" of WPA...

Thanks for the good work.

Count me to the list of people who would REALLY like
WPA/WPA2 support.

Thanks and keep up the good work. Wireless roaming was
really a mess without gtkWiFi!

Cheers, Claude

I'd love it if it could work with 802.1x authentication.
There are various supplicants floating around that I use on
a regular basis. For example wpa_supplicant and xsupplicant.

Basically I'd love to see a checkbox when you are prompted
for a WEP key, something like "[x] Use 802.1x supplicant on
this network instead." .

All the program needs to do upon selection of the network is.
iwconfig <interface> essid "<ssid>"
/etc/init.d/xsupplicat start

The supplicant authenticates the connection and runs dhclient.

Prompting for user credentials would be excellent however I
think the dificulties and dependencies surrounding that
would make this idea unreasonable.

Anyway, something to think about. Look forward to a response.
