I am trying to use CVSin version 4.2.4 under VS 6.0. I
have WinCvs 2.0.2.3 installed (version 1.2, which CVSin
seems to look for is not available any more).
Commands like "diff" seem to work on source files if I
open them in an editor. However, I can't find any other
way to perform CVS operations on a file. For instance,
if I simply select a file in the Workspace window and
hit the diff buttion, I get "CvsIn: No argument for
command, please specify file or directory."
So how does one perform an operation on a file with
CvsIn without editing it? There are 2 problems with
having to open files in an editor before working on
them. The first is that it makes it massively
inconvienent for those who use external editors (I use
VisEmacs). The second issue is that it flat-out won't
work with uneditable files. The most prominent such
files that come to mind are the VS workspace and
project files.
