This happens whenever a large number of fonts are added. Since the
~/.fonts.cache-1 file already exists, gimp.app doesn't know to throw up
the
caching fonts dialog before firing up gimp. I have no idea how to check if
the
font cache is out of date without actually updating it in order to throw
up the
dialog. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

I noticed a simllar long delay with a blank splash screen the first time I

started it under Tiger, but now it seem to start up normally. Maybe it
just
needs to update some stuff?

I'm using version 2.2.3 on a G5.
