5 Support vor ID3v2 tags - ID: 1188609
Last Update: Comment added ( quasireality )

It would be very useful, if there were support for
ID3v2 tags. So it would be possible to tag nearly all
files with one library.

There are no current or future plans to support ID3v2 tags.
There are already quite a few other Python ID3v2 tagging
modules. Reinventing the wheel is usually a bad idea, and
it's always a bad idea when the wheel is as complex as
ID3v2. In addition, ID3v2 support would increase the
codebase by probably an order of magnitude, and I would
prefer to keep it small and manageable.

py-ApeTag is released under the MIT License, so anyone is
free to integrate the code with a current ID3v2 tagging
module. I won't support any ID3v2 code though. The only
time I currently deal with ID3v2 tags is when foobar2000
converts them to APEv2, and I'd like to keep it that way.
